Freeman Churchill

Freeman Churchill, graduated with his Recreation Degree from Acadia University in 1975 and his Physical Education Degree from Dalhousie in 1978. A passionate runner, Freeman competed nationally, in 1981, running the Boston Marathon in 2:34. His first-hand experience as a competitive athlete allowed Freeman insights into the critical role footwear plays in maintain long term health. In 1986, Freeman formed Orthotics East Ltd. where he began fabricating foot orthotics. For more then 30 years he has supported both recreational and competitive athletes and trained over 20 Certified Pedorthists. Freeman was also instrumental in the development of the Pedorthic Association of Canada, twice serving as president, and seven years as a Board member. He also served as a Board member for the Prescription Foot Orthotics Laboratory Association, an international group working to promote efficacy in foot orthotic therapy. He has been doing clinics with the Acadia Sport Therapy Clinic for over 20 years.  Freeman and his wife Elaine have four children and three grandchildren.  He stays fit through swimming, hiking, weights, archery and yoga. In 2019 he swam to PEI from New Brunswick in the Big Swim, a fundraiser for Camp Brigadoon.
